Olympus E-30 Preview

The New Olympus E-30 promises to fill a gap between the E-5xx series of cameras and the Professional E-x (e.g. E-3) cameras. The new E-30 seeks to be the camera for the expressivity and creativity that users seek. This camera bridges the functionality of the E-3 with its highly functional AF system with the usability of creative filters.

Questions from the forum -
Here are the first set of questions and answers from the forum -

1.Does Olympus have plans to offer mult-spot metering in a pro DSLR body
similar to the OM3T/4T?

We don't believe it is necessary to include this feature on a digital
camera because captured images can
be evaluated and adjusted for exposure on the spot.
If we find a benefit for including functionality like this on a digital
camera it could be possible to include it.

2. Olympus states that the E-30 is made of 'engineering plastic', what is
that? Can you provide a better description?

The construction is plastic designed for industrial use. It is an extremely
durable material and can be molded precisely.

3. Is it possible to add an AA Battery meter to the E-3 with a firmware
upgrade?

There is no plan for this at the moment.

4. Regarding the AF fine adjust - Can you calibrate the AF for other brand
lenses like a Sigma lens for the 4/3rd's standard?

Yes

5. Can the AF fine adjustment be added to the E-3 with a firmware
upgrade?

There is no plan for this at the moment.

6. Does the E-30 offer interchangable focus screens?

The E-30 does not offer interchangable focusing screens.
