The Level Guage

You will see that the image on the left is Square, but without the Level guage, no matter how hard I tried I could not get the image on right square. You will notice the light pole in the back is slightly off

Really, without taking into account any of the other features on the E-30, I believe that this feature alone is well worth a person buying this camera. Without a spirit level and a tripod it is very difficult to get a camera square. I can usually get close but built into the E-30 is the ability to get square very simply. I am disappointed that Olympus buried this in the menu (To get to the feature you have to hit Menu - Wrench 1 - D - Last item on the list) , If I were them I would have put it as an easy to access button on the camera that when pushed it turns on and off the feature.

However, you can set the level gauge as the FN button. But when assigned to the FN button it seems to only turn on the level gauge within the viewfinder, but you still have to turn on the level gauge by pressing info button a couple of times to see that display. Also, if you want to use the level gauge within the viewfinder, it only shows the horizontal alignment and not the vertical squareness of the camera, which has somewhat crippled this function. If you really want to use this function to its fullest potential, you have to use it with liveview. So while I think that this functionality has the ability to greatly extend the usefulness of the camera it needs some minor tweaking to be 100% useful.
